The engineering behind the stamp.
CPDG is a Bay Area transportation engineering practice serving public agencies, developers, and contractors across Northern California. Between them, Paul and Mike bring more than five decades of transportation engineering experience across planning and design.
Meet the team

Paul Krupka
Paul is a licensed California Civil Engineer and Traffic Engineer with more than 40 years of Bay Area and Monterey Bay practice, working across every phase of delivery from conceptual planning through construction. His public-agency work includes all phases of Caltrans project development, program management at the Santa Clara Traffic Authority (SCTA) and Contra Costa Transportation Authority (CCTA), transit-oriented development at BART stations and rail corridors, and transportation engineering for numerous local agencies. He has also spent decades helping landowners and developers navigate the transportation aspects of their projects. Every CPDG deliverable, from studies to construction plans, is reviewed under his responsible charge, with final documents signed and stamped for submittal.
- 40+ years of transportation engineering, Bay Area and Monterey Bay
- California-licensed Civil Engineer and Traffic Engineer
- Caltrans, SCTA, CCTA, BART, and local agency project experience
- BE, Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth College

Mike Gysel
Mike spent more than ten years as a transportation engineer at TENW in Seattle, working across planning and design. His planning work included traffic impact and SEPA studies, campus transportation planning for Microsoft, and a parking study for Sound Transit’s Northgate light rail extension. His design work spanned traffic control, signal, signing and striping, illumination, and PS&E plans for the Washington State Department of Transportation, Puget Sound cities, and developers, including the KeyArena rebuild. After TENW, he spent three years at Fraunhofer in Berlin building data infrastructure and knowledge systems for public platforms, including the European Union’s open data portal and smart city systems. He now brings that engineering background to the production platform CPDG runs on.
- 10+ years transportation engineering, TENW, Seattle
- 3 years data infrastructure and knowledge systems, Fraunhofer FOKUS, Berlin
- BS Civil Engineering, UC Davis
- MS Computer Science, EPFL
Bay Area based, serving Northern California
We support projects throughout the Bay Area and across Northern California, including the Sacramento region, northern Central Valley, and Monterey Bay. As California-licensed engineers, we can also support select projects elsewhere in the state.
